Peniel, known as Peniel Shin or Shin Donggeun was born in Chicago, Illinois (USA).

Before debuting with BtoB he was a trainee at JYPE, and he appeared in San E’s MV “Tasty San” with JB and Jinyoung of GOT7 and Wonpil of DAY6.

Peniel has a vlog channel, and is one of the few idols that shave their hair because of his hair loss.
