Jinyoung was born in Changwon.

He shares the same name as legendary K-Pop artist, producer, talent show judge, record executive Park Jinyoung, better known as JYP.

Before GOT7 he debuted with JB in JJ Project. He was then known as Jr., a stage name he kept when he debuted with GOT7. He then changed to Junior to clear the confusion about the name’s pronounciation, and then to Jinyoung.
